Eugene, Junction City police conduct Hwy 99 safety enforcement operation
EUGENE, Ore. -- In a combined effort with the Junction City Police Department, the Eugene Police Traffic Enforcement Unit is conducting a safety enforcement operation Thursday, Jan. 10, on Highway 99, with an emphasis on the areas between Meadowview Road and First Avenue in Junction City, authorities reported Thursday morning.
The operation will focus largely on speeding, in addition to the standard traffic violations that contribute to a high frequency of crashes, police said in a news release.
"The area is heavily traveled by people commuting to and from Eugene, and the goal of the operation is to increase awareness of unsafe driving practices that lead to crashes and make the area safer for everyone traveling the corridor," Eugene Pollice said. "Please be considerate to others in the area and practice safety at all times on the roadway."
