EUGENE, Ore. – The Eugene Civic Alliance announced Monday it completed Phase 2 of the Civic Park project.
Phase 2 involved completing new architectural renderings and a construction budget for the park facility.
Robertson/Sherwood of Eugene and Skylab Architecture of Portland are the two architectural firms collaborating on the project. They worked with the construction committee and board of directors to create and approve the design.
The plans for the new facility include a 40,000 square foot field house for Kidsports, a multipurpose field, and 2,500 seat grandstand.
The fieldhouse will house four middle-school-sized basketball courts, which can be converted into two collegiate-sized courts or eight volleyball courts. There will also be two outdoor basketball courts, the Eugene Civic Alliance said.
The ECA says it plans to host tournaments and minor league soccer on its outdoor field.
The repurposing plans arose after a fire destroyed the historic Civic Stadium on June 29, 2015.
The ECA says demolition work at the site was recently completed.
The new facility will cost approximately $30 million.
