Eugene-based electric car maker takes big step toward full production
EUGENE, Ore. -- A Eugene-based electric car maker is taking the next giant step toward full production of its three-wheeled vehicles.
Arcimoto is celebrating the opening of its new 30,000-square foot production plant.
The new facility caps a ten-year long effort by company founder Mark Frohnmayer to reach the production stage.
Funds to buy the facility came in part from a very successful initial public offer of stock in the company.
Frohnmayer predicts the space will soon be busy.
“Our real purpose over the course of the next 15 months is to get to the point where we can be building 10,000 plus vehicles per year out of this space,” he said.
The entire Arcimoto team will move out of their Blair Boulevard center into the new plant on W. Second Avenue.
Frohnmayer says he has nearly 2,000 pre-orders of cars to make in the next several months.
