Eugene Airport passengers sign up for popular TSA Pre-Check program
EUGENE, Ore. -- A month ago, the Eugene Airport announced a third lane dedicated to TSA pre-check flyers.
Beginning Tuesday--and for the next two weeks--passengers can now go to the Eugene Airport to sign up for the program.
The sign-up is popular - the 720 available spots have already filled up for the next two weeks.
Eugene Airport says walk-ins are still welcome and they have scheduled another mobile enrollment later this month.
The TSA pre-check program allows passengers to go through a dedicated screening lane at several airports across the country.
This will speed up the previous in-person background checks at dedicated TSA locations, making it more convenient to local residents.
"You will get through security in five minutes or less,” says Tina Burke with Transportation Security Administration. “By its very convention, you can keep your shoes on a light outwear jacket, a belt, you can keep your laptop in the bag and put it though security…so it’s very fast.”
The complete cost of the TSA pre-check program is $85 for five years.
The fee is paid online before your in-person interview.
Officials recognize the high demand and say they will continue to schedule more enrollment times as the year progresses.
