EUGENE, Ore. -- What makes a tale wag? When dog ears are listening.
Kids read to dogs at the downtown branch of the Eugene Library. Tale of Doggies put kids in contact with dogs and dog handlers from People and Animals Who Serve Saturday.
The weekly event is for kids in first through sixth grades.
The dogs listen patiently to every story, and some even get a language lesson.
"I really like it because I read in English and Japanese to them," said Opal Richenberg, 9, who visits the library every Saturday and said her favorite dog was Ricky the pug.
