EUGENE, Ore. - If you plan to travel over the Delta Highway and Beltline Interchange over the next couple of weeks, be on the lookout for detours.

This week, the eastbound 569 on-ramp will be closed from Thursday at 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Friday, and again from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Next week, the eastbound 569 off-ramp will be closed from 8 p.m. on Monday to 6 a.m. on Tuesday. | TRAFFIC

The closures are in effect while ODOT tests soil for a future project. The project is designed to make traffic flow safer by removing a clover-leaf ramp and adding a bridge.

"Because traffic has changed so much over the life of this interchange, how we manage that has changed and anybody who goes through that intersection on a regular basis has seen some sore of crash," said Angela Beers-Seydel, with ODOT.

ODOT says travelers won't see any big changes until 2019 when construction begins.
