CORBETT, Ore. – A manhunt is underway for a suspect who attacked a woman in her Corbett home on Tuesday morning.

The woman has been taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, officials said. Investigators believe she did not know the suspect.

According to officials, the victim's family member called 911 at about 6:30 a.m. to report the attack in the 33400 block of the East Historic Columbia River Highway.

Investigators say they've identified the suspect as 26-year-old Pavel Mikhay. Deputies said he was living at his brother's home in Troutdale. They went there, but he was nowhere to be seen.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said Mikhay fled in a pickup that was towing a boat. He abandoned the truck in a driveway near the Corbett School.

Deputies were joined by East Metro SWAT, Gresham Police, and Oregon State Police in setting up a square mile perimeter to search for the person. The school was put in lockdown as a safety precaution.

They closed down part of the Historic Columbia River Highway through 3 p.m. as teams methodically scoured the area for Mikhay.

But deputies renewed their search for Mikhay later in the night after a neighbor spotted him and called police. Deputies closed Corbett Hill Road from Interstate 84 to the Historic Columbia River Highway during the search, in which they used police dogs and a helicopter equipped with night vision and thermal imaging. They reopened the road and lifted their perimeter just after 11 p.m. after they were unable to find the suspect.

Investigators described Mikhay as a white man about 6-foot 4-inches tall, weighing 190 pounds, with brown hair. He may have a cut on his face.

Deputies believe he is armed with a knife and may also have a firearm. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Deputies asked residents to say aware and anyone who sees someone who matches the suspect's description or sees any suspicious person should call 911.
