Crews begin dismantling I-105 bridge in Eugene
EUGENE, Ore. - Have you run into traffic on the I-105 bridge in Eugene?
Here's a look at why crews have closed lanes on the busy bridge.
Crews worked to dismantled part of the bridge Thursday.
When originally built, planners envisioned another highway running under the bridge.
That never happened.
So a portion of the bridge will be removed and transformed into a regular paved road.
Oregon DOT said the project will eventually repair, upgrade or replace several bridges and ramps between downtown Eugene and the Delta Highway Interchange.
The $18 million project - and the associated lane closures and traffic delays - will be completed in Spring 2021, ODOT anticipates.
Traffic impacts could be a factor for commuters and for holiday shoppers. Check for delays or consider alternate routes.
