EUGENE, Ore. -- Eugene Springfield Fire Department responded to a fire Thursday morning at the Rexius Truck Shop on Bailey Hill Road.

The first arriving engine found smoke in and around the building just after midnight.

Firefighters accessed the shop to find a fire inside being contained by the sprinkler system, which had been activated.

The remaining fire was extinguished by fire crews.

Smoke and water damage was minor, officials said, and large fans were utilized to remove smoke.

Officials said the fire was under control within 10 minutes. 22 firefighters responded.

An employee working in the area heard some banging-type noises from the shop, the report said, and while investigating the noises found and reported the fire.

"Quick notification and activation of the sprinkler system prevented a large dollar loss to the building and disruption to the business," the fire department said.
