EUGENE, Ore. -- Local runners laced up their shoes to raise money for the Eugene Civic Alliance for a fundraiser Saturday in Eugene to raise the remaining $5.8 million for its Civic Park project.
All the money raised goes towards construction for the new Civic Park.
The Alliance has already raised more than $24 million but says they need another$5.8 million to complete it.
Alliance community development officer Bridget Franek says the race is one step closer to achieving their goal.
"It's also just building general community awareness that we still have money left to raise even though we started construction and we're hoping to complete the fundraising by the time the park is open, which is in spring of next year."
The Alliance plans to host more fundraisers like this in the coming months.
