Brattain House helps local families enjoy the holidays

EUGENE, Ore. - The giving spirit is contagious this time of year, but when giving donations, you don't always see who is receiving the help.

When you're down on your luck, buying Christmas presents for the kids isn't always an option. One year ago, the Garza family was living out of their car.

The Brattain House was able to provide them with food, clothing, and even help getting their daughter into school.

Now, with the help of community services like the Brattain House, the Garza's have a home. They say these presents mean more than you can imagine.

"My daughter and son's eyes lit up when they opened their gifts," said Aurelio Garza. "It made me feel like a strong father again. It was a really great feeling that I got because of the Brattain House, and the help they've given my family."

The Brattain House partners with the annual Les Schwab Toy Drive. To help donate, you can drop off unwrapped toys at any Les Schwab Tire Center in Coos, Douglas or Lane County by December 22.
