Isiah Wagoner, in the leopard print outfit, attempts to maintain peace between the pro-police and anti-police factions. A pro-police rally was held in Springfield, Oregon, Monday afternoon, June 22. The event, organized by Springfield resident Joe Fritz, was intended to show support for police officers who Fritz believes are being unfairly blamed for abuses of others. A counter protest was organized by a Reddit user Racisrad, a Facebook group that favors defunding the Eugene Police Department. According to the group’s poster, the goal of the counter protest was to “Come Out to Counter the Pro Police Parade Because There Are No Good Cops.” Approximately 300 pro-police participants showed up at City Hall and approximately 50 anti-police arrived. The rally consisted mostly of the two sides yelling at each other followed by a march around town. Once back at City Hall tempers flared a bit leading to a few scuffles and shoving matches. After a scuffle one woman from the anti-police faction was escorted from the crowd by the police and detained. Photo by Dan Morrison
