Protesters at the march. Roughly 300 people gathered on Friday night, July 3, to attend a march held by the Eugene-based group Black Unity. The march, which started at Westmoreland Park and ran through the hills of South Eugene, was centered around demanding justice for Black Unity organizer Isiah Wagoner who was hit by a car during a childrens march that took place on Sunday, June 28. The man who hit Wagoner with his car, Travis Paul Waleri, was detained Eugene Police officers but later released. EPDs Major Collision Investigation team is investigating and calling for the public to submit any video footage that may have recorded the incident. No charges have been filed and Eugene Police Chief Chris Skinner said Waleri is cooperating with the investigation. Photo by Payton Bruni
