Woman dead, 7 without homes after fire burns 3 homes in Springfield; fireworks suspected
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A woman is dead and 7 people lost their homes after a fire potentially caused by fireworks burned three homes in Springfield at 19th and E streets, authorities said.
Fire crews responded just before 10 p.m. Thursday.
According to officials at the scene, one female died and seven people have been displaced. No other injuries have been reported.
They say the flames spread quickly to two other houses, and all three homes are considered total losses. Our reporter described seeing flames twice as tall as the structures themselves.
Officials say fireworks are a possible cause. The fire is under investigation.
