Grass fire breaks out on the Bear Creek Greenway

All evacuation orders have been lifted for the Central Point area.

[Update 7/17 7:44 p.m]

Official say the fire has burned roughly 50 acres.

A strike team was deployed, as well as aerial units.

A cause has not yet been determined. An investigation will continue into the evening and potentially tomorrow morning to determine a cause.

Medford Police say all roads are open that were closed from the fire that started on the Bear Creek Greenway, behind the Jackson County Expo.

Oregon Department of Transportation says all lanes and ramps on I-5 at Exit 33 are open as well.

Medford Police say the fire is under control, for the most part and there doesn't seem to be any human or animal casualties.

[Update 7/17 6:04 p.m]

The Level 3 "Go!" evacuation noticed that was in place for the Jackson County Expo and the 2 mile radius around it, has been reduced to a Level 2 "Be Ready." That would be homes east and southeast of the Expo.

Fire officials say there have been some homes damaged on Meadowbrook and Brookdale Drives. Two detached garages were destroyed.

Officials says the forward rate of spread is slowing, but there is still moderate fire activity in the area.

Oregon Department of Forestry, Medford Fire-Rescue, Applegate Fire, Rural Metro, Fire District 5, Fire District 3 and Air Force Fire are some of the agencies working on the fire. They are all working hard to put out this fire.

Officials say the fire has burned about 30-40 acres.

Officials say the fire has reached Table Rock Rd and there are structures threatened.

There is a Level 3 "Go!" evacuation for the Jackson County Expo as well as a one to two mile radius from there.

Oregon Department of Transportation says both the north and southbound off-ramps on Interstate 5 at exit 33 are closed. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the interchange and Pine Street and watch for heavy congestion on I-5 on the northbound mainline between Exit 30 and 33.

Gebhard Rd and Beebe Rd are closed due to the grass fire behind the Jackson County Expo. Crews are working to close all of Hamrick Rd.

Crews are working on a fire on the Bear Creek Greenway behind the Jackson County Expo.
