EUGENE, Ore. — Environmental activists gathered in downtown Eugene Tuesday in an effort to raise awareness about climate change.
The group says we're seeing the effects every summer here in the Northwest.
“The fires, it’s hard to breathe in parts of Oregon, and people are losing their lives and their homes and it’s hard to deny it now; it’s everywhere,” says activist Jessie Kochaver.
They're calling on lawmakers to take action now.
“We can already see the effects happening and I know that when I eventually have children I want them to have a safe place to live and on the path we’re heading, we need to take action now to make sure we can have a clean and healthy future for future generations,” says activist Jude Stone.
The group is calling for bold investments in clean energy and environmentally-friendly projects.
