29-foot boat found run aground in Washington; Coast Guard searching for mariner

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard is looking for an Olympia man after finding his wallet aboard a 29-foot sailboat found run aground on the shore.

The vessel and a smaller dinghy were found Thursday morning at Skiff Point on Bainbridge Island, Wash.

The Bainbridge Island Police Department called the Coast just before 9 a.m. to report finding the boats.

"A Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles aircrew, a boat crew from Station Seattle and crew aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Wahoo arrived on scene and are currently searching the area alongside local law enforcement agencies for a possible person in the water," the Coast Guard said Thursday afternoon.

The Coast Guard found a wallet, cell phone and nautical charts aboard the vessel. The wallet belongs to a Scott Caldwell of Olympia, the Coast Guard said.

"If you have any information about Mr. Caldwell or his vessel, please contact our Sector Puget Sound watchstanders at 206-217-6001," the Coast Guard said.
