22-year-old arrested following Oregon State violence threats

CORVALLIS, Ore. - A man was taken into custody and booked at the Benton County Correctional Facility in Corvallis on Tuesday after making threats of violence towards the Oregon State University and community through Twitter, authorities said.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., Oregon State Police troopers became aware of the threats made by Christopher Adam Strahan, age 22, of Corvallis, who was acting under the username of "Hard Belly Dorm" on the social networking application.

At this time, there is no known threat to public safety in the area, but OSP is continuing to investigate the situation.

OSP received an anonymous tip via SafeOregon, the statewide school safety tip line, which is purposed for this students in PK-12. However, they were able to provide information to the police and assigned staff at Oregon State University to assist in the investigation.

KVAL News located a Twitter account that made multiple references overnight to OSU and violence. Some tweets referenced other mass shooters. KVAL News has opted not to directly quote the tweets or identify the account at this time.
