EUGENE, Ore. - The Eugene Civic Alliance plans to extend 20th Avenue to allow two-way traffic between Amazon Parkway and Willamette Street.
The Alliance is currently also at work developing Civic Park on the site of Eugene Civic Stadium.
Some preteen boys playing with fire burned the historic wooden ballpark to the ground June 29, 2015.

"Since Civic Stadium was built in 1938, 20th Avenue primarily existed as a line on a map," the Eugene Civic Alliance said in a statement Tuesday.
Practically speaking, it was part of the stadium parking lot. The new design will extend 20th Avenue from Willamette Street to Amazon Parkway. There will be stop signs at the intersection with Oak Street and the intersection with Amazon Parkway that will help to improve traffic flow during periods of high use.

The work on 20th Avenue is the latest change in transportation around the site of Civic Park.
In February, the City of Eugene removed the elevated pedestrian bridge over Amazon Parkway.
The Civic Alliance now plans to "install new atgrade pedestrian crossings with flashing safety lights across Amazon Parkway and Willamette Street," the Civic Alliance said. "The crossings will connect to a pedestrian and bicycle path that links the east and west sides of the site. Once completed, these improvements will provide a safer route for students to reach South Eugene High School and Roosevelt Middle School and create a safer commute for all pedestrians and bicyclists who use the Amazon and Willamette corridors daily."
The Alliance also hopes to see a bike share station like PeaceHeatlh Rides installed on 20th.
