SPRINGFIELD, Ore.- When I think of downtown Springfield, I usually think of Plank Town. Four and a half years of cold beer and hot food.
"We didn't know what we were going to be to begin with, really. We were a brewery with food and we've definitely become more of a restaurant," Plank Town owner Bart Caridio said.
It's a restaurant with 18 beers on tap and some absolutely monster burgers- like their bacon cheeseburger. With a bun fresh from the toaster, stacked high with all the fixings, including crispy bacon and melty Irish cheddar cheese. It's a carnivore's delight.
"Somebody called one time, told us it tasted too much like meat," Caridio laughed. "Yes, what does that mean?"
They have lighter fair, too- blackened cod salad. It's topped with lemon-thyme oil and fresh sliced green apples.
"It's just such a wonderful summer dish, because you get the greens and the cod on top of it," Caridio said.
Plank Town will be just one of the breweries represented at Springfield's second annual Tap & Taste.
