Placido's Pasta Shop is a intimate little restaurant on Shelton McMurphey Blvd in Eugene, serving up fresh pasta dishes.
These dishes are a labor of love from owner Joe Placido, who took a chance and decided to open his first restaurant.
"And I finished school, got a corporate job for awhile, and decided I was going back to the food," Joe said.
"Are you glad you made that decision?" I asked.
"Yes! Most definitely!" Joe laughed.
Joe mainly cooks Italian food, but his Pacific Northwest influence manages to sneak into dishes like the Smoked Salmon Fettuccine.
"Yeah, it's our house smoked salmon with some organic crimini mushrooms, roasted red bell peppers, and a pesto cream sauce tossed with spinach fettuccine," Joe said.
Joe says he works with a small staff and makes almost everything himself. It's a lot of work, but it beats the alternative.
"Yeah, I was in a cubicle for a couple of years," Joe said. "Needed to get back on my feet."
Joe is definitely back on his feet. And for our sake, I hope he doesn't sit back down anytime soon.
