EUGENE, Ore.- Kim's Cubanos is like a little piece of Florida in downtown Eugene.
Kim Ryana lived in Florida for 30 years. When she moved to Eugene, she felt something was missing- well, two things. Cafe Cubanos, and Cubano sandwiches.
"I must get two or three people from Florida a day, looking for Cubanos," Ryana said.
Kim's Cubanos only does three things. Coffee, Cuban sandwiches, and mango lassi- but she doesn't need a bigger menu to make an impact.
"These are some of the things I really enjoyed it Florida, and I thought like I'd share them with the community here," Ryana said.
Consider the Cubano. It's on thousands of menus, done in hundreds of ways. But Kim's Cubanos are classic.
"So, Cuban sandwiches, pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard," Ryana said. "That's pretty much the traditional Cubano. And it's pressed."
The bread gets nice and toasty, the cheese melts down...I didn't think it was possible to fall in love with a sandwich. And yet, here I am.
