Graduation ceremony for Guide Dogs for the Blind canines: 'Going off into the world'
A lifetime of preparation and training paid off Saturday as several canines graduated from the Guide Dogs for the Blind program.
The seven teams of guide dogs and their handlers received the accolade at a special graduation ceremony in Downtown Portland.
“Today is the culmination of two years of work,” said Christine Benninger, the CEO of Guide Dogs for the Blind. “And we're celebrating and going off into the world.”
They began their training when they were just 3-day-old puppies.
Now they will help their visually impaired partners make their way through the world.
