New mural at Springfield High School represents unity and respect
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - The “Art of Unity” mural was revealed at Springfield High School on Friday.
The project was a collaboration between AARP, Lane Arts Council and Springfield High School.
“We started with conceptualizing ideas like what represents the school and want to represent the community. And, we just started from scratch and we figured out what colors we wanted and what we wanted to represent,” said Dyo Flight, a student who worked on the mural.
Unity between age groups was the main inspiration for the mural.
“Your mural communicates unity, and that's what we want, all of us to be united, to be respected,” Geneva Craig with AARP said.
The artwork can be found on the front of Springfield High School.
