Tree knocks powerline down across McKenzie View Road
A tree fell and took live power lines down to the road Wednesday morning, prompting firefighters to close McKenzie View Road east of Coburg Road.
Firefighters responded after a 911 caller reported the lines down across the road, said Chad Minter, chief of the Coburg Fire District.
"Looks like it tumbled down the hill and was rotten," Minter said. "As wind and rain kicks up, we'll probably have more powerlines down across the county.
EPUD crews were on scene restoring power.
EWEB reported four power outages, but expected more as the wind kicks up. Outages were centered in the area of Dillard and 53rd and Willamette in south Eugene.
Lane Electric Co-op had 20-30 customers without power in the Enterprise Road area out of Pleasant Hill.
