Fire department Treasure Hunt on Oct. 2

Press release

On Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., the Albany Fire Department will be having its annual Treasure Hunt. Each of the four fire stations will be open with different activities during those four hours.

Stop by Station 11 (110 SE 6th Avenue) for a fire engine ride, spray some water at targets, and have some popcorn. See the Jaws of Life in action at Station 12 (120 34th Avenue) at 10:30 a.m., 11:45 a.m., and 1:00 p.m.; watch them cut up a car. You and your family can also have your picture taken in fire fighter clothing on our antique fire engine, and enjoy a hot dog. Station 13 (1980 Three Lakes Road SE) is going to demonstrate how the aerial truck sprays water and you'll get to see what our Water Rescue Team and Divers do in a water emergency. Cookies and juice will be available. At Station 14 (2850 Gibson Hill Road NW) do the Junior Fire Fighter Challenge, see a 911 demonstration as well as practice calling 911 with a real Linn County dispatcher, and the Life Flight helicopter will be landing at 10:00 a.m. and be there for viewing until 2:00 p.m. (weather permitting). Also get some candy for your trick or treat bag!

Bring your family for a great time and discover the "treasures" at the Albany Fire Department. If you have any questions, please contact Wanda Omdahl at 541-917-7734.
