A huge martial arts competition was hosted Saturday at Civic Park.

It's called Hanmadang.

It's a specific style taekwondo and organizers called Saturday a martial arts celebration.

Many different types of martial arts were demonstrated.

Organizers hope that Saturday's event will allow for future collegiate scholarship opportunities for athletes.

But the thing it teaches most of all?

"The thing that taekwondo does most of all [is teach] character development," said Master Doug Fuechsel, President of National Taekwondo Committee.

Winners of Saturday's competition will go on to compete in Washington D.C.

Recruiters were also there scouting for Black Belts to participate in the next televised world event in South Korea.
