'Dear grandpa: Thank you for the example you've set for us all'
At 90 years old, Curtis Weise has opened his share of mail.
Letters from friends; Publishers Clearing House; and plenty of bills.
Now many decades after his service in the Navy, a mail call on the recent Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., brought a letter that Curtis will never forget.
"Dear grandpa," the letter begins. "Thank you for the example you've set for us all."
The letter came from his grandson, Chas.
"I remember asking you when I was little about your World War II experience and how little you made of it," Chas wrote. "I know now how great a thing it was."
"I just about broke down in tears," Curtis said, "but I finished reading the letter."
