Corvallis veteran, 93, to receive French Legion of Honor medal for World War II service

Jim Carroll, 93, of Corvallis is set to fly to France next week to receive the French Legion of Honor medal. Carroll and 8 other U.S. veterans of World War II will visit Paris and Normandy as part of the trip. Carroll was in the US Army Air Force for 2.5 years, primarily as part of a fueling team of -38 and P-51 aircraft. He served in Europe with a brief tour of duty in the Pacific theater in the summer of 1945. CORVALLIS, Ore. - Jim Carroll, 93, of Corvallis is set to fly to France next week to receive the French Legion of Honor medal.

Carroll and 8 other U.S. veterans of World War II will visit Paris and Normandy as part of the trip.

Carroll was in the US Army Air Force for 2.5 years, primarily as part of a fueling team of -38 and P-51 aircraft.

He served in Europe with a brief tour of duty in the Pacific theater in the summer of 1945.
