Howe Field, Eugene, Ore. May 17, 2014

EUGENE, Ore. -- The Oregon Ducks continued their strong showing in the Regional playoffs, defeating the Wisconsin Badgers 6-1 in the second round. The victory secured them a spot in the final round of the Regionals.

"Our record doesn't really matter anymore, it's all about getting to the next game," said Ducks left fielder Janie Takeda.

The game was tied 1-1 until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Ducks put five more runs on the board. Takeda hit an RBI double that was followed by a homerun from catcher Janelle Lindvall. The Ducks ended the game with 10 hits, while the Wisconsin Badgers had only two.

"We kept chippin' away and knew that we were going to explode at any moment," said Takeda.

The defense was solid across the board. Both teams recorded no errors for the game. Ducks sophomore Cheridan Hawkins pitched the whole game for the Ducks, and had 11 strikeouts. Wisconsin Badgers pitcher Taylor-Paig Stewart had three strikeouts for the game.

"When we have a fun environment like that is when we play our best," said Hawkins.

The Oregon Ducks will play in the Regional finals at 1pm Sunday at Howe Field. Their opponent is to be determined, but will be the winner of the loser's bracket.

"It will depend on which pitcher we facewe will have a game plan for each one, or whatever team we face," said White. "I'm not sure who I'm going to pitch yet. I'll have to sleep on it."
