EUGENE, Ore. - Amidst speculations about Colt Lyerla's departure from the Oregon Ducks, KVAL News tracked down a police report naming the tight end as a participant in an altercation in 2012.
The University of Oregon was aware of the incident, said Craig Pintens, associate athletic director. Pintens said the case had no bearing on Lyerla's decision to leave.
In the report, three men told police Lyerla pushed them to the ground after one of them told the football player, "Take it easy, you have the Spring Game coming up."
No charges were ever filed in the case.
Lyerla has said he left the team for personal reasons and intends to pursue a professional football career.
He missed two games this year, including the Colorado game. He was kept out for unspecified violations of team rules.
