SEATTLE -- A former Seahawk is getting a lot of buzz these days. Not just for his playing days, but for the new beer he helped create.
Former kicker Norm Johnson recently teamed up with the owner of a Federal Way bar, Neal Nilsen, to make The 12 Man Pale Ale. They worked with Dick's Brewing Company in Centralia to perfect the recipe, and since then they can't keep their beer on the shelves.
The beer is a pale ale without the strong, lingering aftertaste of pale ale (if that makes sense). Johnson and Nilsen designed it that way so fans would get the flavorful taste of a craft beer, but still be able to chug it on gameday.
Johnson says the two made it as a tribute to Seahawks fans everywhere. Part of their sales will also go to local charities.
The 12 Man Pale Ale sells in dozens of bars and stores around Puget Sound, including some larger grocery chains.
