      Wildland fires keep Douglas County crews busy over weekend

      ROSEBURG, Ore. - Firefighters from the Douglas Forest Protective Association and local fire departments responded to four wildfires over the weekend.

      Drain Section Road Fire: Firefighters from DFPA and North Douglas Fire Department responded to a grass fire on Drain Section Road on Saturday at 3 p.m. Firefighters were able to contain the fire at 1/100th of an acre.

      North Myrtle Road Fire: Firefighters from DFPA and Myrtle Creek Fire Department responded to a natural cover fire in the 11000 block of North Myrtle Road, 9 miles northwest of Myrtle Creek on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The fire was found burning in grass, brush, and tress. Firefighters were able to suppress the blaze at 3/4 of an acre.

      Old Highway 99 North Fire:
      Firefighters form DFPA and Douglas County Fire District #2 responded to a grass fire in the 7000 block of Old Highway 99 North on Saturday at 6 p.m. Firefighters were able to contain the fire at 1/10th of an acre.

      Mona Street Fire: Firefighters from DFPA and Tri-City fire department responded to a natural cover fire near Mona Street in Tri-City at 10:30 p.m. Firefighters arrived on scene and found the fire burning in grass, brush, and trees. Firefighters were able to stop the fire spread at 1 acre.
