Weiser man, 64, dies in Snake River boat accident
BAKER CITY, Ore., (KBOI) —
A 64-year-old Weiser man died last week in a boating accident on the Snake River.
The Baker County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called out to Snake River Road after a report of a body was spotted floating in the river. When deputies arrived on scene, the sheriff's office says Michael I. Townsley's body was now on a Good Samartian's boat between Spring Recreation and Morgan Creek.
Deputies say Townsley and another man, 18-year-old Dustin Grant, were fishing when a wave lifted up the front end of the boat and slammed it back down. The wave knocked him into the river. He was not wearing a life jacket.
The case remains under investigation.
