Prineville man, 70, reported missing in Cascades of Linn County
MARION FORKS, Ore. - A search party worked through the night to locate a 70-year-old Prineville man who disappeared while picking huckleberries in the Cascades, the Linn County Sheriff's Office said.
Friends of Jerry Walter Thomas started searching for him in the Parish Lake area around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The friends called 911 at 5:20 p.m. to report Thomas had disappeared while picking berries about a 1/4 mile from their camp.
The sheriff's office organized a team of 15 to start the search Wednesday. They searched through the night.
More searchers from Benton County joined the effort Thursday.
"We are in the process of potentially getting air support to assist with the search," Linn County Sheriff Bruce Riley said.
