Go Here Now: Diamond Creek Falls

From the Salt Creek Falls Observation Site, follow signs for the Diamond Creek Falls and you can take spur trails to epic mountain views or to Too Much Bear Lake. (SBG/Kristin Goodwillie)

OAKRIDGE, Ore. - The wet weather we got in October is making for some magnificent waterfalls around Oregon.

If you head up toward Oakridge, there are a bunch of off-shoot trails and waterfalls you can take your pick from.

You’ll want to park at Salt Creek Falls Observation Site which is about 23 miles southeast of Oakridge.

From Hwy 58, just look for signs that read Salt Creek Falls Observation Site.

You can take the short walk (about 50 yards from where you park) to the Salt Creek Falls Viewpoint. From this parking lot, there are many other trails you can take that split off from one another.

Or hike the Diamond Creek Falls trail.

Just follow signs for the Diamond Creek Falls and you can take spur trails to epic mountain views or to Too Much Bear Lake.

Eventually, there will be an offshoot that says Upper Diamond Creek Falls, and that’s where you’ll see this huge waterfall.

You can safely get up close to the base of the waterfall which leads to some great Instagram-worthy photo ops!

Overall it’s about a 2 1/2 mile hike.

You can continue to other falls or to Vivian Lake is you’d like to extend the hike.
