Coastal residents celebrate 50th anniversary of Oregon Beach Bill
BANDON, Ore. -- 50 years ago this week a milestone piece of legislation established public ownership of land along the Oregon coast.
The Oregon Beach Bill was signed on July 6, 1967, by Oregon Governor Tom McCall.
The bill preserved the state's entire shoreline for the public
The CoastWatch program led a beach walk Thursday in Bandon to celebrate the 50th anniversary.
Organizers talked about what you'll find on the beach and how people can become stewards of their particular beach they like to visit.
The beach walk was started at Coquille Point in Bandon.
