EUGENE, Ore. - Law enforcement removed a man from a home Thursday after he was served an eviction notice and refused to leave the house, the Lane County Sheriff's Office said.
The police action blocked Bethel Drive near Haig Street Thursday.
Captain Spence Slater said the standoff lasted for a few hours as members of a special unit arrived with tactical equipment and an armored vehicle.
"The biggest wait is just getting enough people from the SRT here and getting some armor here so they can do it safely," Slater said. "Once they're here, it goes pretty fast."
The special response team used a Taser and pepper spray to forcibly remove Kevin Curtis Foss, 25, from the property. He faces a charge of contempt of court for refusing a court order, Slater said.
It was the fourth call out for the special team this week.
"I hope this is not a trend that is going to continue," Slater said.
The same special team responded to a situation involving gunfire in a dispute over gardening equipment on Brice Creek Road on Tuesday.
