Philadelphia high schools get free condom dispensers

PHILADELPHIA - High school students in Philadelphia will soon have access to free condoms after the city's Health Department decided to install dispensers at 22 high schools over winter break.

The clear condom dispensers inside of the nurse's office at each school.

City officials said that the high rates of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases among teenagers is an epidemic that needs to be stopped.

The city chose to install the dispensers in the 22 schools with the highest rates of STDs in Philadelphia.

While the condoms are free to any student, parents still have the option of making their child exempt from the program.
