Elementary school principal suspected of killing husband

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) Leslie Jenea Chance, the principal at Fairview Elementary School in the Greenfield School District, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering her husband, whose body was found dumped this week in a rural farming area.

Farmworkers reported finding the body of 45-year-old Todd Chance on Sunday on the dirt extension of Noriega Road east of Enos Lane. The Kern County Sheriff's Office said he was shot to death.

During their investigation, detectives discovered the man's black 2011 Ford Mustang abandoned near the intersection of Tigerflower Drive and Wheatland Avenue in Bakersfield.

Another woman, who would like to remain anonymous, told Eyewitness News on Monday that she saw a woman park what she described as a nice car, and just walk away.

"I saw a lady pull up in a black Mustang, park it, fumble around in the car for a minute or two, get out," the witness described.

Thursday night, the sheriff's office said it developed information to arrest 46-year-old Leslie Jenea Chance for the murder. The sheriff's office didn't give details of its evidence against the man's wife.
