World Sprint Boat Championships: 'A blindingly-fast race'
LEBANON, Ore. -- From the roar of boats rushing 120 miles-per-hour down a narrow slough to the 5 foot wake splashing across a muddy field, there's nothing delicate about this weekend's Sprint Boat World Championships in Lebanon.
While the racers make this blistering boat race look easy, six-time world champion Peter Caughey said a lot is on the line when competitors cross the starting line.
"You might have done a blindingly-fast race at the start of the day, but that will not get you to the final unless you do it repeatedly through every round," said Caughey.
The Global Jetspring Facility will host four qualifying races through the weekend before racers compete in the finals.
