SANTIAM PASS, Ore. - Firefighters pulled a woman from the wreckage of her SUV after it went off the road and collided head-on with a tree Wednesday, Oregon State Police said.
Candace Dobson of Pollock, Idaho, was flown by air ambulance from the scene of the crash to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend.
The extent of her injuries is not known, although she had been treated and released before the investigating trooper arrived at the hospital, police said.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 126, south of Santiam Pass.
Dobson was eastbound in a 2004 Ford Escape, police said.
For an unknown reason, the SUV crossed the westbound lane and went off the road, hitting a tree head-on, police said.
Firefighters from Upper McKenzie Rural Fire Protection District freed her from the wreckage and transfered her to a helicopter.
The highway was briefly closed for emergency response and air ambulance transport.
