Woman dies in early morning crash through field south of Albany

ALBANY, Ore. -- A Philomath woman died after being thrown from a car crash early Sunday morning when her car rolled through a horse field south of Albany, the Linn County Sheriff's Office said.

A nearby resident found the crash off of Oakville Road at around 6:50 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies arrived to find 33-year-old Shayna Johnson, of Philomath, deceased on the ground near her 1991 Acura Integra.

Crash investigators believe Johnson was driving south on Oakville Rd. when she lost control of her car, crossed traffic, slid into a ditch and rolled through a horse fence. Johnson was thrown from the vehicle during the roll, Officials said.

The sheriff's office is still looking into what caused Johnson's car to leave the roadway.
