Woman arrested for DUI after her son called the police

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers make multiple OVI arrests on New Year's Eve.

PORTLAND - Police in Beaverton and Hillsboro received multiple calls about a drunk driver on Saturday night, the most alarming of which came from inside the suspected car.

An 11-year-old boy called into the police that he was concerned his mom was driving drunk, and he was in the car with her.

Dispatchers acted quickly, working to track down the young boy and his mom.

"The dispatcher was trying to keep him on the line to get landmarks," said Deputy Shannon Wilde of the Washington County Sheriff's Office. "At one point he saw a restaurant, so we were able to piece together what street they were on and where they were."

Deputies say that this is a good reminder for everyone to recognize if you see a drunk driver, or someone you've seen drink a little too much get behind the wheel, to take down their license plate number and call the police.
