Wildfire evacuations: Red Cross opens shelter in Riddle, moves shelter in Gold Beach

EUGENE, Ore. - The Red Cross has opened a shelter in Riddle for people displaced by the Horse Prairie Fire.

And the shelter in Gold Beach for evacuees from the Chetco Bar Fire is changing locations.

The shelter in Riddle is located at Open Bible Christian Church, 694 4th Ave. Homes in the Lower Cow Creek area are under a Level 3 GO! evacuation notice because of the fire's spread.

The shelter for evacuees from the Chetco Bar Fire was located at Riley Elementary School in Gold Beach. With school starting soon, the shelter has moved to the Curry County Fairgrounds Events Center, 29392 Ellensburg Ave, in Gold Beach.

Level 3 GO! evacuations remain in effect for areas near the Chetco Bar Fire, although fire managers and the sheriff's office have worked to allow re-entry to residents in some areas.

Through August 31, the shelter in Gold Beach had served 4,000 meals and provide 245 overnight stays.
