'We've been here for 5 hours, waiting for it to get restored'
EUGENE, Ore. -- A damaged fiber optic cable shut down computer communication for Alaska Airlines for five hours on Monday, canceling or delaying several flights along the West Coast, Canada and Mexico.
Two Alaska Airlines flights departing from the Eugene Airport were canceled Monday.
"I feel a little stuck, I have to say. And there's nothing else I can do but just wait and hope that the system comes up and they figure out a way to get us out," said Leslie Price whose flight was canceled.
"We've been here for 5 hours, waiting for it to get restored," said traveler Bill Bradbury.
Service came back up at around noon on Monday.
