'We were watching the flames move toward the gas tank'
EUGENE, Ore. -- Firefighters helped douse a car that was completely engulfed in flames Saturday afternoon at an apartment complex in the south hills of Eugene.
The car's owner, Jake Wolf, says he drove over to his friend's house to watch some football.
When he looked out the window, flames were pouring out of his car. Wolf says the fire started in the engine around 3:40 p.m.
"It was moving so fast, within 10 minutes half the car was engulfed. We were watching the flames move toward the gas tank, like, hopefully it doesn't blow up," said Jake's friend Spencer said.
Firefighters at the scene said they are still looking into what caused the fire. They had it out minutes after arriving at the apartment on Kismet Way.
