SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - The voice of Lisa Simpson will take part in a community celebration August 25 unveiling a mural of "The Simpsons" given to the city by the show's creator, Matt Groening.
The mural will be installed on the west side of the Emerald Arts Center beginning August 21 by Old City Artists, a company owned by former University of Oregon football player Erik Nicolaisen.
Yeardley Smith, the voice of Lisa Simpson, will help dedicate the mural, the City of Springfield said Friday.
The mural will be unveiled Monday, August 25, during a block party dedication on 5th and Main Street in downtown Springfield.
The free event will start at 11:30 a.m.
5th Street will be closed between Main Street and A Street for a community block party, including a tuba band, donuts and chalk art.
At noon, Smith and city officials will dedicate the mural, followed by a Q&A session with the actress and Simpsons artist Julius Preite.
