Victim in Corvallis nail salon attack dies; suspect charged with murder
CORVALLIS, Ore. - The man accused of attacking his wife's lover at a nail salon now faces murder charges after the victim died from his injuries, police said.
Mitch Dong, 50, died Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital, a week after the attack at Corvallis Nails and Spa.
Than Kim, 49, now faces a charge of murder. He is being held on $3 million bail.
Kim reportedly attempted suicide while out on bail. He survived.
According to sworn affidavits filed in court, Kim went to his wife's nail salon that night and noticed two cars outside.
Kim told police he was carrying a baseball bat in one hand and a gun in the other when he entered the salon, according to court documents.
The gun fell out of his hand, so police say Kim used a bat to hit the head of the man his wife was sleeping with multiple times, police said. When the victim fell to the ground, police say Kim kept hitting him, even grabbing a nearby knife to slash his face.
