ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Veteran's dream of recognizing the service of others is almost realized.
Bill Hamman wanted to build a veteran's memorial wall that had the names of the men and women who served in combat.
Now nearly complete, Hamman says it's amazing to see his idea becoming a reality. "It's like winning the lottery, you know, that's how i feel. It's a dream come true," he said.
The wall is a first of its kind for several reasons.
It features black polished marble, pictures and a database.
Those with smart phones can take a picture of the q-r code on the plaque, which will take them to a web page with information about that veteran. "You could come here, sit down and look at all the names and so on, and reflect as far as what these people were willing to sacrifice so that you could enjoy your life here."
Hamman says he hopes the wall will stand for generations to come.
